SF3 SOURCE & METHODOLOGY

Summary File 3 (SF3) reports long-form census data down to the block group or census tract level. 813 detailed tables reveal social, economic and housing characteristics compiled from a sample of approximately 19 million housing units (about 1 in 6 households) that received the Census 2000 long-form questionnaire.

Visit the Census Bureau site for more details about comparing SF3 estimates with corresponding SF1 and SF2 values. Discussion includes the weighting procedures used and the use of estimates for small groups and areas. The goal of SF3 is to identify large differences among areas or large changes over time.
